We Are Expanding!

At the moment, the library is in its pop-up stage, but in the next two months, we will be expanding it to encompass most of the building at 849 Valencia. Refugee Eye, a gallery run by our friend Lara Aburamadan, will continue to mount shows in the space, too. We invite visitors to come and see the current iteration of the library and to help us dream of its expansion.

Goals of expansion:

A Library of Dynamic, Vital Stories

To collect and celebrate student work from writing centers all over the country and world, including Italy, Australia, Louisville, Sacramento, Dublin, Buffalo, Stockholm, Birmingham and dozens of cities in between.

An Inclusive Space

To create space for visitors (of all ages!) to discover and enjoy this impressive work. Central to the Library’s mission is its accessibility and inclusivity; this space will always be free and open to the public.

A Hub for Student Programming

To institute writing labs and workshops, open study hours for local students, and other youth-focused programming.

We believe in honoring these young voices and giving them outsized recognition, and we are excited to expand the space and efforts — but we cannot achieve this goal without support.
